2021 Cherry Blossom Viewing Party

When we moved in last year, seeing this tree first explode in bloom was a pleasant surprise. This year I waited for it, preplanned our menu, and the very first blossoms opened on May 1st. It's now at peak bloom, and there was no big storm like last year scattering the flowers so it's very serenely dropping single petals. I made a menu of my favorite Japanese treats like various mochi and some gorgeous sakura gelatin (with real sakura inside!). We also added some of our favorite Chinese braised chicken. Way too much food as usual and leftovers galore, but enjoying this tree's fluffy bouquet is our new favorite annual thing.
