We moved in later winter this year, and I took only the briefest glance at the trees in front at the time. While I did see the little buds on the tree, I had no idea it'd bloom into such a breathtaking display of double blossoms: a Kwanzan ornamental cherry tree. We've decided to hold a viewing party every year going forward. The winds were absolutely battering the tree, so we brought in some handfuls to make the room bright.
Here's the last-minute menu we cobbled together:
Cherry Blossom Viewing Party Menu
• Brown sugar-braised magret duck breast • Sesame spinach salad w/chirimenjako (dried baby sardines) • Royal Milk Tea • Peanut and green tea mochi • Junmai Kimoto (traditional style brewed) sake • Jinro Chamisul (soju) • Homemade Korean fried chicken
