An Ode to Chinese Tea Tables, Part I

I've had some complaints about where we'll even store the new tea table I got, so instead I'm going to post pics of all my Chinese gongfu tea ceremony tables I've collected (I have another on the way from China).

I love these - they're elaborate and designed to let you discard tea washing water away into hidden drains. The first is my newest and has lovely metalwork on the drain.

The second is my first and I made it part of a "tea station" where I brew my morning tea/during work, and sits atop a dresser full of Chinese teas (raw/ripe puerh, hei chai, green etc).

Both the large ones are carved from slabs of ebony wood and they're heavy (35-40 lbs a piece). There's even jaw-dropping, freestanding tea tables carved of entire tree trunks that tea masters/tea houses can have.

The last is a tiny little desk one, letting me enjoy tea while working at my desk.
